Gaby's Advisor Profile

Gaby brings over 20 years of experience to the investment industry.

Prior to joining The Blackmont Group, Gaby worked for 15 years at Royal Bank of Canada, a Beverly Hills institutional wealth management firm where she managed over a half billion dollars for ultra-high-net-worth investors as a fixed income analyst and trader.

Gaby graduated cum laude from California State Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Real Estate, and Law with an emphasis in Financial Management.

With relation to fixed income investing, Gaby is very selective in terms of employing tax-free municipal offerings where needed, so, investors can reduce, and sometimes eliminate, their income tax liability while holding investment grade quality issues for protected durations to create and maintain ideal investment cashflow scenarios. She applies the same degree of care when prioritizing higher return potential for especially tax-deferred investment accounts such as IRAs.

Growing up, my father emphasized the value of education which helped lay a foundation for my professional development. My experience in high school and throughout college enhanced my analytical skills which advanced my appreciation for information in written form for both leisure and learning. In turn, reading as a natural rhythm, has helped me become a better informed investor.

One of the most important lessons I have learned to develop as an investor is the importance of self-awareness and self-regulation. Financial data and market analysis helps keep investing decisions scientifically supported, but best practices for investing means decisions should be principle-based too because investing can be very psychologically motivated. We all have blind spots and can all fall subject to myriad cognitive biases such as loss aversion and overconfidence, so, understanding my state of mind as an investor when entering and exiting a position is very important. I am frequently very confident in my investment decisions, while at the same time, I am appreciative to have access to a committee of counsel to double-check my work.
